Field kit
2027 World Scout Jamboree field kit
A practical chapter beside the World Scout Jamboree 2027 Poland guide, for a family packing a bag: how a Hong Kong summer compares with the host’s July and August note, why the fee is in złoty and not euro, the five bin colours the city of Gdańsk prints, and a short Polish pocket list. Bravely Field Notes does not register anyone.
Bravely Field Notes · worldscoutjamboree2027 · not a packing list from the host
Unofficial on purpose
This field kit is not the Organising Committee, not ZHP, and not the Scout Association of Hong Kong. It does not use their emblems. Your contingent’s list wins if it disagrees with this page. worldscoutjamboree2027.com does not sell an adapter, a phrase book, or a place.
What this field kit is for
The Poland guide on this site is the place chapter: the island, the entry points, and day visitors. The practical page reads Bulletin 1 on tents, sleeping bags, and the złoty fee table. This page is what a Hong Kong family can think through before those two chapters: climate, cash, bins, and a few Polish sentences. It is not a second Poland guide, and it is not a second copy of circular 08/2025.
A Hong Kong summer and a Baltic July
The host’s venue page describes July and August on the island as a warm temperate summer, moderated by the sea: an average daily temperature of 17°C, an average high of 21°C, humidity of 55 percent, and about seven days with precipitation in a summer month. That is one note for those two months together. It is not a forecast for 2027.
The Hong Kong Observatory’s 1991–2020 normals, recorded at the Observatory, give July a mean of 28.9°C, a mean daily maximum of 31.6°C, and a mean relative humidity of 81 percent. August is a mean of 28.7°C, a mean daily maximum of 31.3°C, and the same 81 percent humidity. Those are Hong Kong figures. They are not a temperature on Sobieszewo Island.
| Source | Mean | Mean high | Humidity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host venue page, July and August together | 17°C | 21°C | 55% |
| Hong Kong Observatory, July 1991–2020 | 28.9°C | 31.6°C | 81% |
| Hong Kong Observatory, August 1991–2020 | 28.7°C | 31.3°C | 81% |
The host’s 17°C and 21°C are one pair for July and August, not a separate line for each month. The Observatory rows are monthly normals. This table does not turn either set into a forecast, and it does not invent a Hong Kong rain-day count to set beside the host’s seven days.
What that gap means for a bag
The gap between those two published notes is why a shirt cut for a Hong Kong July is not the whole bag. Add a warm layer and something that keeps rain off. Bulletin 1 says the participation fee does not include a personal tent, a cot, or a sleeping bag. The practical page already turns that sentence into a packing note. This page does not add a second list of brand names.
The host has not printed a 2027 forecast. A week on the Baltic can still sit above or below the venue page’s average. Follow the list your leader hands you.
Złoty, not euro, and not a Hong Kong dollar invoice
The host writes the participation fee in Polish złoty (PLN). Narodowy Bank Polski publishes a daily table of buying and selling rates for foreign currencies in złoty. The European Central Bank publishes a euro reference rate for the Polish złoty, which is the public mark that Poland’s currency is quoted against the euro rather than being the euro. This page does not copy either table. A rate moves.
Circular 08/2025 printed a March 2025 estimate of 1 złoty = 2 Hong Kong dollars, and said the association would collect a shortfall if the rate was higher when it paid. That estimate stays on the Hong Kong page, with the date attached. It is not a 2026 price, and it is not a reason to transfer money to worldscoutjamboree2027.
Five bin colours the city prints
The host’s news note on Bulletin 3 says that bulletin covers waste using Gdańsk’s five-bin system. The news page does not print the five labels. On 6 July 2026 the city’s cleanliness company, Czyste Miasto Gdańsk, published a page for summer visitors that does print them. The lines below are that page. They are the city’s bins, not a map of the campsite. This notebook does not know whether the camp will use the same colours.
| Colour | What the city page puts in it |
|---|---|
| Yellow | Plastic and metal: plastic bottles, yogurt cups, cans, and drink cartons. |
| Blue | Paper: newspapers, cardboard, and clean paper bags. Not greasy or dirty paper. |
| Green | Glass: empty bottles and jars, without caps. Not drinking glasses or ceramics. |
| Brown | Bio-waste: fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, and eggshells. Not raw meat or fish bones. |
| Black or grey | Residual waste: what does not fit the others, including used tissues, greasy packaging, and receipts. |
The same city page suggests a reusable bottle and public water taps in the city. Bulletin 1 describes drinking water as part of the participation fee on the camp. Those are two sentences from two publishers. This page does not know where a tap will stand on Sobieszewo Island, and it does not tell you to drink from a city fountain as if it were the camp supply.
A Polish pocket list
Participants come from many countries. This list is not a rule that the camp is conducted in Polish, and it is not a course. It is for a patrol in Gdańsk, with a shopkeeper or a resident, when English runs out. Dzień dobry is the daytime greeting for someone you do not know. Cześć is informal. Czy mówisz po angielsku? uses the informal you, the form for another young person.
| Polish | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Dzień dobry | Good day |
| Cześć | Hi (informal) |
| Dziękuję | Thank you |
| Proszę | Please, or you’re welcome |
| Przepraszam | Excuse me, or sorry |
| Tak | Yes |
| Nie | No |
| Nie rozumiem | I don’t understand |
| Czy mówisz po angielsku? | Do you speak English? |
| Gdzie jest toaleta? | Where is the toilet? |
| Poproszę wodę | Water, please |
| Potrzebuję pomocy | I need help |
| Jestem z Hongkongu | I am from Hong Kong |
Polish spelling uses marks this list keeps, including ę, ł, and ó. A message without those marks is harder to read. The camp has not issued this list.
Three checks that already have a chapter
A Hong Kong three-pin plug, the six-hour clock, and the swimming-test certificate are written elsewhere on this site. This page does not repeat them. Open the chapter that holds the source.
報名問香港童軍總會(scout.org.hk),不是問 worldscoutjamboree2027.com。這本手記叫 Bravely Field Notes(勇敢手記)。
Questions to take to your contingent
This kit cannot answer these. Your leader can.
- Does the contingent’s packing list already include a warm layer and a rain layer?
- In what currency will the family be invoiced, and who holds any exchange-rate difference the Hong Kong circular described?
- Has the contingent been told which bin colours the camp will actually use?
- Who carries medicines, and where is a concern reported? Not to this website.

Questions about the field kit
- What should a Hong Kong family pack for the weather at the 2027 World Scout Jamboree?
- The host’s venue page gives July and August an average of 17°C, an average high of 21°C, and humidity of 55 percent. Hong Kong Observatory normals for 1991–2020 put July and August near 29°C and 81 percent humidity. Pack a warm layer and a rain layer on top of whatever your contingent lists. Bulletin 1 says you also bring your own tent and sleeping bag. This is not a forecast for 2027.
- Does Poland use the euro at the 2027 World Scout Jamboree?
- The host writes the participation fee in Polish złoty. The European Central Bank publishes a euro reference rate for the złoty, which is how this page knows the złoty is quoted against the euro rather than being the euro. Narodowy Bank Polski prints a daily rate. This notebook does not copy that rate, and it does not take a payment.
- What are the five waste bins in Gdańsk?
- The city’s 6 July 2026 visitor page says yellow for plastic and metal, blue for paper, green for glass, brown for bio-waste, and black or grey for residual waste. The host’s Bulletin 3 news note says the camp uses Gdańsk’s five-bin system and does not print those colours. This page does not know whether the campsite matches the city page.
- What Polish is worth learning before the 2027 World Scout Jamboree?
- A short pocket list: Dzień dobry, Dziękuję, Proszę, Przepraszam, Nie rozumiem, Czy mówisz po angielsku?, and Potrzebuję pomocy. The camp has not issued this list. Many international patrols will already share English. Bravely Field Notes is not a language school.
- Will a Hong Kong plug fit in Poland?
- A separate chapter reads the IEC list: Hong Kong types D and G at 220 V, Poland types C and E at 230 V. A type G plug does not fit a type E socket. This field kit does not know which sockets the camp will install.
- Is this the official packing list for the 2027 World Scout Jamboree?
- No. Bravely Field Notes at worldscoutjamboree2027.com wrote it from public climate, currency, and city pages. The host’s list and your contingent’s list win. This site does not register participants.
- What is 世界童軍大露營 2027 for a family packing a bag?
- The Traditional Chinese name of this camp. This field kit compares a Hong Kong summer with the host’s Baltic note, keeps the fee in złoty, and points at the March 2025 Hong Kong dollar estimate without reprinting a new rate. Places still go through the Scout Association of Hong Kong.
Read on 29 October 2026: the host venue page, the Hong Kong Observatory monthly normals for 1991–2020, Narodowy Bank Polski table C, the European Central Bank’s euro reference rate for the Polish złoty, and the Czyste Miasto Gdańsk visitor page dated 6 July 2026. The five bin colours are that city page. The camp has not confirmed them. A later page wins.
